A COMPLETE PRACTICE CYCLE

Work it through.
Explain the why.

Choose a stage and a case, enter your calculations and write your recommendation. Check the worked answer, then use the rubric to identify what to practise next.

These are fictional training cases, not employer interview questions or personalised advice. Numerical checks assess arithmetic only. Written reasoning and self-ratings are not a hiring prediction or a professional assessment.

Free demo: read a simple operating result

A fictional manufacturer has completed its first month. Build the operating result and interpret a price sensitivity.

Assumptions and scope
  • All amounts are CAD; one product and no inventory movements.
  • Variable cost is constant per unit; the only other expense is the stated fixed operating cost. No tax, interest or other income.
  • The price sensitivity assumes sales volume, unit variable cost and fixed costs remain unchanged.
Case data — all facts provided for this exercise
DriverValue
Units sold500
Selling price per unit$80
Variable cost per unit$50
Fixed operating cost$10,000

Your assignment

  1. Calculate revenue, total variable cost and operating profit.
  2. Calculate operating profit if selling price falls to $75 with all other assumptions unchanged.
  3. Explain the effect and identify the most important assumption to validate.

Your calculations

Enter numbers without currency symbols, % signs or × signs. Negative values are allowed. Results use the stated units and tolerances.

Interpret the result

What conclusion is supported by this price sensitivity?

Self-assessment rubric

Assess the evidence in your own response. These ratings are self-reported, not mentor scores. 0 = not demonstrated; 1 = partial; 2 = clear; 3 = clear with supporting evidence and limitations.
